Mary King has been exhibiting professionally for thirty eight years. She has had 4 solo shows in New York and 2 in Chicago. Other solo exhibitions were in Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, Saugatuck, and Battle Creek, Michigan. Her work has been exhibited in group shows at: The Detroit Institute of Arts, The Butler Art Institute and Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
King earned a BFA from The University of Chicago and a MA from Western Michigan University. She studied advanced painting at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
King has been awarded grants by The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and by Education For The Arts of Kalamazoo County. She has received two residencies at Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.
King’s work has been favorably reviewed by The Kalamazoo Gazette, The Ann Arbor News, Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The New Art Examiner, The Chicago Reader and The New York Times.
